The Howling Cow Dairy Education Center and Creamery


Before You Visit!

  • We are card only: credit, debit, or apple pay but no cash!
  • Hours: 12pm – 7pm 7 days a week!
  • We are a biosecure farm: No pets on the premises, working service animals are welcome.
  • Currently, our Dairy Education Center is not open to the public, tours can be scheduled by appointment! More information can be found under the “Visiting the Museum” tab.

Our facility is proudly student operated, located right on the dairy farm that provides the milk for the dairy products we sell in store!

For over half a century, generations of North Carolinians have savored our premium ice cream on NC State’s campus or at the North Carolina State Fair.  Howling Cow is made on NC State’s campus in the Department of Food, Bioprocessing, and Nutrition Science’s Feldmeier Dairy Processing Lab in Schaub Hall. Our traditional recipes start with fresh milk and cream that comes from our Raleigh farm, with top-quality ingredients added to create many delicious flavors.
