The Randleigh Dairy Heritage Museum

The Museum & Tours
To schedule a tour of the Randleigh Dairy Heritage Museum,
contact Madison Church: dairyfarmtours@ncsu.edu

The Randleigh Dairy Heritage Museum was built in honor of the Kenan family, whose generous support helped us create this educational destination at the NC State Dairy Farm. Our mission is to bridge the gap between consumers and farmers through educational programs.
Our interactive museum lets visitors discover how a typical North Carolina dairy operates. Come learn how we raise our cows, how they produce milk and how that milk is used to make products like our delicious Howling Cow® ice cream.

Guided farm tours are available by appointment only for groups who are interested in learning how dairy products get from the farm to the table.
The museum and farm are located on Lake Wheeler Rd, just five miles from downtown Raleigh!

Educational tours are offered Monday-Friday at 11am or 2pm. Weekend tours are limited to Saturday only.
Organized groups with more than 10 participants can schedule a tour by emailing Madison Church at dairyfarmtours@ncsu.edu. Please let us know the number of people in your group and a preferred tour date/time.
Smaller groups (less than 10 participants) can book a tour online using the link below.
Our two tour options are $15 per person (kids 2 and under are free):
Walking Tours: Our walking tour allows guests an up-close view of our milking facilities, freestall barn, and cows! This tour includes a pair of disposable shoe covers and a 4oz cup of Howling Cow ice cream.
Tram Tours: This tour option is perfect for individuals with mobility issues or who just want to enjoy the scenic views of our farm from the comfort of our covered tram! Our tram tour covers the same information as our walking tour and includes a 4oz cup of Howling Cow ice cream.
We want you to have the best experience while visiting the NC State Dairy Farm. We’ve put together a few tips that will ensure safety, comfort — and fun!
- Respecting Biosecurity: To prevent the spread of disease to and from our animals, we ask all tour guests to avoid touching or petting our animals. Shoe covers will be provided before walking tours and must be worn while you are on the farm.
- Dress Accordingly: Please dress for weather and wear closed-toed shoes. The majority of our tour spots are outside on rough, uneven terrain.
- Listen and Learn: Actively listen to your tour guide and stay with your tour group at all times. We encourage you to ask questions throughout your tour!
Fundraising efforts for the NC State Dairy Farm operate under the auspices of The North Carolina Agricultural Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)3, non-profit, tax id 56-6049304. You will receive an official receipt for your donation.
